In the Fall of 2003,
as part of California Bluebird Recovery Project jointly sponsored by the
North American Bluebird Society and the
Santa Clara Audubon Society, Andy Spangler led the Boy Scouts of Troop 5, Pacific Skyline Council in Palo Alto, California
in building 25 bluebird birdhouses and retrievers. Andy's Eagle project included the redesign of a retriever that
was lighter and easier to transport into more remote areas.
The project was carried out under the auspices of Tex Houston and the Santa Clara
Audubon Society who are building, placing, and monitoring bluebird nest boxes in local parks and open spaces to provide safe nest sites for bluebirds. It is hoped that the detailed specifications on this page will help and encourage others to be part of the Bluebird Recovery Project.
