Volunteer for Conservation

SCVAS offers many ways to get involved in conservation efforts affecting us in Santa Clara Valley. To get more information or join any committee, simply Contact Shani Kleinhaus, SCVAS Environmental Advocate at shani@scvas.org.

Environmental Action Committee

The Environmental Action Committee (EAC) identifies conservation priorities and directs grassroots conservation advocacy and activities for SCVAS in Santa Clara County and beyond. Committee members focus on new issues as they arise and provide support to the many communities of Santa Clara County in protecting our natural environment, watersheds, birds and wildlife. The committee also recommends conservation policy to the board. The EAC works closely with the SCVAS staff and recommends conservation policy to the Board of Directors. Committee members can work on one issue important to them, or many issues - it is up to the individual.

EAC meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM at our headquarters in McClellan Ranch Preserve, Cupertino.

Burrowing Owl Advocates Committee

A sub-committee of the Environmental Action Committee, the Burrowing Owl Advocates Committee (BOAC) focuses on conservation of the remaining Burrowing Owls of Santa Clara County. The committee monitors sightings of owls, and engages in grassroots advocacy to promote the conservation of both nesting and foraging habitats for the owls.

BOAC meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM at our headquarters in McClellan Ranch Preserve, Cupertino.
